CSS Adalrik's #HARPG-Grand-Prix training in Show Jumping, Dressage and Cross Country!

The mealy bay stallion pranced with giddiness and anticipation as Vivian circled in him in the practice arena. His neck arches on the tight, single rein as he chewed the bit eagerly. His chocolate colored eyes flared with alert as Vi pulled him in a tight circle. The stallion's four white hooves pranced in an elevated trot in the sandy arena as his nostrils flared in anticipation of what was to come. He fought Vivian's grip, jerking his nose and tugging against her grip on the reins. With a calming word from his rider, he settled into a halt at the fence. Riki's glossy hide quivered with uncontainable ecstasy. Knowing what was to come and no longer able to contain himself, Riki reared up onto his well-muscled hind legs. His rider brought him back down to earth and say back deeply as she cued a canter. Riki launched forward into a strong stride, enjoying the freedom of movement that his tack allowed him. Vivian directed him down the fence line and then rotated her hips and shoulders towards the simple stadium fence in the center of the arena. Vi sat deeply and held Riki back, trying to make him wait for the fence. The stallion tossed his head up into the air but obeyed his rider and collected his strides up to the base of the fence. With a flawlessly timed leap, developed from years of bonding between the team, Vivian released the stallion. Riki sucked up his gut and held his breath as she allowed him to move freely, and he launching over the fence in an exaggerated arch. As his legs began to unfold and stretch out towards the fast approaching sand, Vivian stretched out her arms and allowed him to stretch out his nose. The team exhaled in time with each other as the stallion landed and cantered off from the fence.

Riki's body rounded onto the bit as his weight shifted to propel him forward with his hind legs. His deep, chocolate brown eyes blinked slowly with hard concentration, and his black tipped ears swiveled backwards to listen to Vivian's cues. He sat back deeply on his haunches as Vivian's outside hip slid back and her inside hip slid forward while her shoulders countered the movement and she opened up Riki's inside shoulder to pick up his lead. As Riki felt his rider's outside leg pressure his side firmly, he arched forward in a smooth leap into his collected Dressage canter frame. Vivian sat deeply and enjoyed the stallion's self-pacing technique, or his "auto-pilot" as she liked to call it. The stallion's breath came in a rhythmic pattern of exhaling as his leading leg made contact with the ground. Vivian practiced Riki's two-tempi and one-tempi flying changes down the center of the practice arena. Riki moved freely and fully beneath her, his legs switching smoothly between the leads as he concentrated. As Vivian sat deeply and closed her seat, Riki came down to a ground-covering walk in which Vi granted him his full head in order to stretch out. She looked down at his thick neck, stained with perspiration and marked with the raised webbing of veins that circulated the stallion's blood. Vi rubbed his arched neck fondly, patting his shoulder firmly with affection.

Thick clumps of turf were chucked up into the humid air as the stallion tore across the field with his ears pricked and his tail flagging out behind him. The stallion stretched out freely as Vivian held her safety seat over his well-muscled back. The stallion’s nose stretched out before him, and the wind whipped at his loose forelock and tugged on his tail. Riki four white legs pumped the misty air effortlessly as he crested a hill on the course and breezed through a gate. Vivian’s laugh echoed across the course as Riki’s genuine love of the sport shone in his wild canter. This is what they lived for.

I have been working on this piece for weeeeeeeeks! And I love it! Especially the show jumping phase. I love Vivian in that frame. The jump in the SJ phase is *Champie-TiiteWolf's Bewitched Moon Stables fence. The logo on that thing took me quite a while to draw, but I think it came out super, duper well! I hope ya'll like the background tooooo!
