"It's no use, Des," Vivian huffed with annoyance from atop the little red mare. "She won't pick up her feet. She refuses to pick them up."
"Maybe she needs a more threatening obstacle," the scott offered, dragging the faux brick wall off of the fence and towards the outside line of the arena.
"You'd better not refuse this and dump me," Vivian whispered to Bird as the cued the mare into a canter and circled the arena. As the rider guided the little mare towards the fence, the horse wavered beneath her, looking for an opening out of which she could dodge.
"Hold her steady!" Desmond instructed while Vivian did just that and pushed her up to the base of the wall. With a half hearted lurch and a hopeless grunt, Bird heaved her little frame over the wall, clipping it soundly with her hind legs.
"I don't get it!" Vivian complained, bringing the mare down to a halt in the center of the arena. "I don't see what you saw in her." Desmond sighed and reached out to stroke the mare's uniquely marked face.
"She's got it in her, Vi. I don't doubt it. I just don't think we're building it up to her expectations."
"What do you think she needs? A four foot tall brick wall with a moat dug in front of it?" Vivian asked sarcastically. Desmond shrugged.
"Maybe," he chuckled. "Maybe we're underestimating her, and she's taking it as an insult." Vivian scoffed.
"Yeah, right."
"Who knows?" the scot laughed. "Although I do think you need to give her something big and scary to get attention."
"That's not how I train, Des," Vivian sighed. "I won't move a horse up until we are comfortable and consistent at lower levels. You've got to start with a solid foundation before you put the roof on."

I hope they unlock her talent soon! I have to say when my boy was younger he just used to demolish a fence if it was any smaller than 80cm xD he had to learn to be careful over small ones.
