I'm sorry about the quality of this drawing. I ran out of cardstock, so this paper is textured and lumpy. That is why Javert's coat is lumpy and not at all smooth. I am beyond irritated at the outcome of this piece...
Day after day, Javert became more familiar and confident with Vivian. Vivian had taken Javert under her own care from the very beginning, and every day she worked with the stallion, she realized what a good choice he had been. Javert was developing into a very well rounded horse, not only physically but also mentally. A horse with a strong and active body was necessary, but a strong and active mind was always a plus. Javert was eager to learn and willing to try his hardest at each task. He had begun to fall naturally into a round frame, and his topline was developing quickly.

Javert was a joy to work with and be around. His seriousness and no-crap attitude made life so much easier for Vivian. She always saved her workouts with Javert for the last of the day, because she knew that working with the stallion would leave a smile on her face, and she'd go home happy. Vivian liked the imagine that Javert liked her as well, but she believed that it was just a relationship of mutual respect and appreciation. Both horse and rider liked to follow the rules and work within guidelines. Although Javert was more comfortable within a predictable situation, he eagerly adapted to changes in routine. It was impossible to phase the stallion.

On this particular day, Vivian moved their training session down to one of the main rings beside the big barn. The stable was undergoing a few renovations in perspective to the ratio of stallions to mares, this changing the main barn to the housing for stallions and mares, and using the smaller stallion barn at the back of the property for the weanlings and yearlings. Vivian had begun familiarizing the stallion with the section of the barn where he was to be moved, and Javert took it all in stride. He strutted up and down the hall, his bright eyes blinking slowly as he made mental notes and gained confidence in his new territory.

The first lap around the ring was taken at a walk in Javerts huge stride. He covered ground quickly as he moved forward, his hind legs overreaching as Vivian rhythmically tapped his sides with her calves to keep the impulsion. Javert was as cool as a cucumber as he looked over the fencing and the hedging and into the trees. The air was moist and carried a chill that nipped at Vivian's face and chapped her lips. Javert seemed to love the cool weather. It kept him perked and sharp even more than he normally was.

Vivian maneuvered Javert around the standards and poles that Joe had left out in the ring while working Marc, and the stallion looked at them intently. Vivian had been avoiding any fences and focusing solely on groundwork and establishing the strongest core possible. Vivian had been focusing a lot on muscle building and consistency. She was guiding Javert to establish his own rhythm within his gaits. Vivian spent the majority of their workouts transitioning from the working trot to the walk to the canter to the walk to a trot to a walk. Knowing that the long step in a downward transition was a point of much stress and lack of skill in lots of horses, a problem that made transitions look messy and jolty, Vivian wanted to instruct the stallion in a way so that he would naturally take that long step in the back with ease. After a few workouts, Javert had wrapped his head around the concept and was applying it phenomenally well.

Vivian held steady constant on the stallion's mouth and then bumped his neck rhythmically with her inside rein while also tapping his side with her outside leg. Javert obeyed instantly, moving his shoulder towards the rain and bending his body around Vi's inside leg. She cued Javert into the trot, and he responded happily. She worked with the stallion on his transitions as they circled in one end of the arena. Vivian used the jumps as a barrier to keep Javert in the circle. As a challenge for the stallion, Vivian halted the stallion from the trot and the backed him 3 steps before cueing him into the canter. Javert surprised her with his consciousness and attention to her cues. He leaped forward in a massive bound, throwing Vivian's balance off as he arched into his canter. Vivian leaned back, trying to regain the stallion's head as he cantered eagerly outside of the circle. She pushed with her outside leg and to bend him into the circle, but he fought her, his blue eyes locked on the small cross rail in the ring. He cantered towards it happily as Vivian fought him him.

In the end, the halve half ton animal won. Even though he took the fence nearly sideways, Javert still won. He jumped the crossrail with raw joy. as Vivian held on for dear life and struggled to maintain her balance. Javert landed the tiny jump with all of his normal sensibility. He recollected himself and cantered forward. Vivian collected her reins and settled back into the stallion's rhythm. She was temped to be annoyed at him for fighting her, but she was shocked at his response to the fence. She hadn't seen a horse so excited about jumping since... well... since Riki.

Vivian allowed Javert to jump a few more times in their workout, simply because she loved feeling his joy, and his eagerness. The fences were all tiny, but that was all that Vivian felt comfortable taking a 3 year old over. It made a difference in Javert though. His energy was unconquerable. Vivian was exhausted and her legs aching after the workout, but Javert was still hyper. Although his black coat glistened nearly blue in the sunlight, Javert begged for more. As Vivian dismounted, he twisted his head around and nudged her hip as if to say, "That's it?"

LMAO xD And this was inspired by my own ride a week ago. I cued the canter and the horse was like "I see a fence out of the corner of my eye! I wanna juuuump!" I was trying SOOOO hard. But we ended up taking a 2 foot jump sideways. LMAO Faaaail.

Baha, oh dear. :XD:
Lily did something like that a few weeks ago. There was a pole on the ground in between two jump posts, and she must've thought it was up, because when I went to trot her over it, she flung herself a good 4 feet in the air to get over it. I didn't fall, but I was not prepared to fly. :lmao:

Yeah, but she's 19! She shouldn't be doing that shit. :XD:
God, if she was younger (and I actually knew how to jump high/advanced obstacles), I'd definitely do cross country with her. I think she'd be amazing at it. :)
